RX by Kate Fodor
(Comedy)

"Rx by Kate Fodor and directed by John Pleshette at The Lost Studio on La Brea is funny and zany, all in the same breath. The writing is like watching Woody Allen on psychotropic drugs meeting or having a wacky date with Christopher Durang to see Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange. This production is top rate, the play is fantastic ... a solid cast of astonishing actors ... the events in this play will make you lightheaded, without the need for medication, unless they come up with a disease for it – addiction to theatre."
-Joe Straw, Blogger

" ... a superb ensemble and director John Pleshette's polished and breezy staging (abetted by Nicholas Davidson's crisp lights and Joseph "Sloe" Slawinski's witty sound) deliver enough laughs to satisfy anyone's nora-epin-ephron jones."
Bill Raden, LA Weekly

"The plot is simple ... but it becomes a modern classic by virtue of the supporting characters and the extraordinary actors who play them. Noel Coward, eat your heart out. Masterfully guiding the whole production is director John Pleshette ... "
Cynthia Citron, Santa Monica Daily Press

"The play ... has a terrific cast and humor that makes serious inroads into pointing out the foibles of our feel-good society."
Melinda Schupmann, ArtsInLA.com

Director John Pleshette’s staging is crisp with tight pacing that engagingly focuses the sometimes dark comic timing.

Meena Pierotti, a once-published prose poet, is the Managing Editor of Piggeries at American Cattle and Swine Magazine. She hates her job, so much so that when she feels like crying, she seeks refuge in the old ladies’ underwear section at Bon Ton Department Store. Fortunately for Meena, Schmidt Pharma is conduction a double-blind study of 925, a drug to combat workplace depression. Meena enrolls in the trial, reporting each week to Dr. Phil Gray, who’s been with Schmidt Pharma since he insulted a 10-year-old in the emergency room during his residency. Their mutual attraction threatens to sabotage the study and as Meena becomes increasingly dependent on the drug, she is forced to choose between Phil and 925. Kate Fodor’s sly comment on our dependence on mood-enhancing drugs is a hilarious satire as well as a tender love story.

Rx is being produced by Lynn and John Pleshette at the Lost Studio.
